Kathmandu: Embassy of Nepal in Ottawa, Canada, has issued advisory notes to Nepali students who may be preparing to study in Canada for the new academic session.
The embassy has advised students to keep a thorough knowledge and information regarding the college they will study in, subjects, the cities where the colleges are based and fees and expenses. The embassy has said that often the students face a lot of problems because they rely on inadequate or exaggerated information and make their decisions accordingly.
Also, the embassy has advised the Nepali students to enquire about the subjects and universities, the cities, availability of residences, total expenses to be paid, among others with relatives, seniors and former students, including with NRNA offices, before flying to Canada.
The embassy has advised the parents to assess the situation about residency, expenses and fees and send their siblings only after making sure that they are properly managed. It has advised parents not to think “once they reach Canada they will get jobs.”
As the number of students going to Canada from other countries has rapidly increased, there is a huge stress on residency and employment opportunities. In this context, the embassy has advised students not to pay in advance for residency only on the basis of social media ad.
