Hetauda, Makawanpur: Save the Children, under the Global Fund grant, officially handed over a state-of-the-art medical storage facility to the Bagmati Province Government, amid a function held in Hetauda on Thursday.

At the handover event, Minister of Health and Population of Bagmati Province, Kiran Thapa Magar, said “This warehouse will successfully store a wide range of medical supplies, ensuring that the medical needs of the people, especially those from underrepresented groups, are guaranteed without fail.”

The new 470-square-meter storage facility, constructed on government-owned land in Hetauda, includes features such as, disability-friendly access, CCTV surveillance, fire alarm systems, telephone and internet networks, and a 24-hour solar backup power system. The construction of the warehouse started on March 17, 2024 and took three months to complete.

Tara Chettry, the Country Director of Save the Children, stated, “The medical warehouse not only helps strengthen the healthcare supply chain but also contributes to streamlining the supply and demand of essential medicines, increasing access to TB, malaria, and HIV health services. It will also facilitate better coordination between hospitals and pharmacies.”
