Ilam constructs 59 irrigation projects investing Rs 348 million

Ilam: As many as 59 irrigation projects were constructed in the Ilam district in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. The irrigation facilities were developed by investing Rs 348.7 million. 

More than 2,100 households benefitted from the irrigation projects completed under the Small Irrigation Programme in Ilam.  

With the construction of the irrigation projects, the farmers in different areas in the district are elated by the irrigation supplies in their farmlands. 

Ten small irrigation projects were completed in Suryodaya Municipality, nine in Ilam Municipality, eight in Mangsebung Rural Municipality, and seven projects in Mai Municipality, according to Chief of Small Irrigation Programme Keshav Lama. 

Asman Yonghang of Gajurmukhi village in Mangsebung Rural Municipality said their dependency on rainwater is over now after the irrigation supplies from the Pakrumba canal, which was constructed with the investment of some four million rupees. 

Likewise, an irrigation project was also built in the village of Lapsibote in Maijogmai Rural Municipality by investing Rs 5 million. 

From the project, 58 households are directly benefited. 

The irrigation projects were developed with the partnership of the federal government, province government, local government, and the Swiss Government.
