Death toll in Kaski landslides rises to 11

Kaski: The death toll from the landslides in Kaski district last night has risen to 11. Officials confirmed that ten people died in Pokhara Metropolitan City, while one person perished in Madi Rural Municipality.

Among the victims, seven members of Kul Bahadur Pariyar’s family lost their lives in Tallakot of Puranchaur, Pokhara Metropolitan City-19, according to Basanta Kumar Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Spokesperson of Kaski Police.

In another incident, Anita Ojha, 18, Pratik Subedi, 9, and Anuska Ojha, 11, were killed in a landslide at Chainpur, Pokhara Metropolitan City-32.

Likewise, 80-year-old Maiti Kumari Gurung, who had been missing in a landslide in Madi Rural Municipality-11, was found dead, DSP Sharma reported.

Authorities continue to assess the damage and provide support to the affected families. 

Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, said police.
