South Asian Travel Award in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The eighth edition of the South Asian Travel Award (SATA) will be held in Kathmandu from September 19.

The two-day event to confer awards will be attended by the representatives of over 250 hotels, travel agencies, airlines, and media from six countries. 

In a press meet organized in the federal capital on Monday, the organizers informed that 44 awards in various categories would be distributed on the occasion.  The event partners are The Malla Hotel and Aloft Hotel.

Those excelling in the hospitality in South Asian region would be conferred the awards.

The Nepal Tourism Board and the Hotel Association Nepal would extend support for conducting the event which would feature trade and entrepreneurship exchanges on travel.

In the press meet, Vice Chairman of Nepal Tourism Board, Ram Prasad Sapkota, said the SATA would play a significant role in promoting tourism and hospitality businesses.

Executive Chief of the Board, Nandini Lahe Thapa, viewed it as welcome indeed to have such an event in Nepal, which could help prop up tourism development.

Moreover, the Chairman of the Hotel Association Nepal, Binayak Shah, expressed the belief that the award handover program being held in Nepal would be eventful to revive tourism which suffered much in the recent past.

Chief Executive Officer of the Hotel Association, Tek Bahadur Mahat, is one of the jury members from Nepal for the award selection.
