All sluice gates of Gandak Barrage opened

Nawalparasi: All the gates of Gandak barrage have been opened after the water level in Narayani river rose to above the warning level. 

All the gates of Gandak Dam (Barrage) located in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-7 of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapurva) have been opened, according to Liaison Officer of Gandak Barrage, Kashinath Harijan.

“All 36 gates of the barrage were opened after the Binayi Triveni-1 Baguban area was flooded.” He said that all the gates of the barrage were opened as the flow of water in the Gandak area continued to increase. 

Today at 7:00 am, the water flow in Gandak barrage was measured at 440,750 cusecs.

Meanwhile, the south section of Nawalparasi (Bardghat-Sustapur) under East-West Highway has been blocked due to fallen trees.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Paudel said that the road was blocked by a fallen tree near Bishwakarma temple in Daunne.
