Kaligandaki Corridor obstructed

Nawalparasi: The Nawalpur road section under the Kaligandaki corridor has been obstructed.

The corridor was obstructed due to a flood triggered by the incessant rainfall since Friday night. The flood swept away a concrete pipe installed for Taranga stream, said the Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Nawalpur, Bed Bahadur Poudel.

Vehicles plying towards hilly areas from Gaindakot and vehicles coming towards Gaindakot from Rampur have been stranded after the obstruction.

Poudel shared that coordination was underway to reset the large pipe to manage floods and rescue the stranded vehicles.

Passengers have been facing severe problems because the construction company which is building a 25-meter-long bridge did not complete the construction on time. The deadline for the construction of the bridge is the end of the current fiscal year.

However, only a bridge over the Tauranga stream at the Nawalpur section remains to be constructed along the Kalgandaki corridor.

Meanwhile, one-way traffic has resumed along the East-West Highway. The landslide had occurred at Daunne along the East-West Highway, obstructing the movement of vehicles.

Likewise, vehicular movement under the Daldale-Kumsot-Pokhari road section has been disrupted due to a landslide that occurred at Pangre of Hupsekot rural municipality-5.
