Education Ministry collecting details of works of NGOs, INGOs in education

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has started collecting the details of and the works carried out by the national and international organizations as well as the non-governmental organizations.

The Ministry has made a public call for providing these details within 15 days. The collection of details have been started at the direction of Education Minister Sumana Shrestha in view of the government lacking a systematic information system on how many national and non-governmental organizations are working in the education sector and what activities they are carrying out at present, according to Minister Shrestha’s secretariat.

The Minister’s private secretariat said that problems related to resource mobilization for the education system would be identified and ways of resolving the problems explored after the collection of the details.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology seeks to understand contributions made by non-governmental organizations, both national and international organizations. The ministry wants to know the project details which NGOs/INGOs have been implementing in the Education Sector. This is expected to identify the gaps and overlaps in the resources mobilization for a better education system, reads the notice of the ministry.
