49-year-old Nepali-speaking man drowns in Great Miami River

Ohio: The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who drowned in the Great Miami River in Colerain Township as Gopal Pradhan, 49, of Cincinnati. Pradhan is a Nepali-speaking Bhutanese refugee in the United States.

Pradhan was fishing on Sunday, June 23, when he went into the water to retrieve a bucket and did not resurface, according to witnesses.

Colerain Township crew recovered his body near Heritage Park later that day, confirmed Colerain Police Spokesperson James Love.

Pradhan was pronounced dead at the scene. His family, who were present during the incident, was notified of his death.
