No visa fees for Nepali travelers to China from May 1

Kathmandu: China has announced exemption of visa fees from Nepali citizens effective from May 1, 2024.

The decision, according to the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, was made to promote the friendship and further facilitate the personnel exchange between China and Nepal.

According to Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, the decision was taken to promote the relationship between the two countries and enhance service convenience.

While the regular visa is free of charge, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal will charge fees for express visa services. According to the Embassy, the express visa service ranges from Rs 2,700 to Rs 4,000.

Nepal has been exempting Chinese citizens from visa fees since 2016. 

During a recent visit to China, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha had urged the Chinese authorities to grant visa-free access to Nepali citizens.
