Kanti Highway comes into full operation from today

Patan: Transport services have fully come into operation on Kanti Highway from Monday. The highway was closed since March 14 to carry out repair and maintenance work.

Engineer Ravindra Maharjan, information officer of Kanti Lokpath Project informed that the highway has been repaired and will start operating from today.

“Cliff-cutting to expand the road has been completed in the narrow place of Karkibas-3 of Bagmati Rural Municipality in Lalitpur to Chhapeli of the district. The work has also been completed in Kalche area. However, the single lane along Chhapeli to Kalchhe is yet to be completed due to a lack of budget this year.”

However, the rest of the work will be completed by next year.  Despite some hindrances in the proper completion of the extension works, Kanti Lokpath is now fully operational for vehicular movement.”

It has been 67 years since the construction of this road began. The project is considered suitable and short in terms of distance to connect Kathmandu with Hetauda.
