Four killed, one injured in Mugu during Yarsa collection

Mugu: Four people who went to collect Yarsagumba have died due to the altitude sickness in Mugu in the past two days. 

One person, who was severely ill after the altitude sickness, died on Saturday while being brought to the district hospital for treatment. Another person is being treated at the local health post.

According to Topendra KC, chief district officer of Mugu, Jeevan Budha and Devraj Budha were referred to the health facility in district headquarters. Of them, Devraj died on the way when they were brought to the headquarters as they could not be treated at Mugu health post.

Similarly, 29-year-old Man Bahadur Budha of Shobha village in Chayanath Rara Municipality-12, and Shobhan Budha and Raj Bahadur Sawat of Kampha village of the same municipality, who were brought to Mugu village for treatment after falling ill in the Patan Thulo Koikima Lake, died on Saturday. With the death of Devaraj Budha, the death toll has reached four.

Last year, three people who reached Patan in search of yarshagumba were killed in an avalanche. The rural municipality allowed locals to collect Yarsa in more than 24 areas of Mugu on May 25.
