Buddha Jayanti marked in Islamabad

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad, Pakistan, organized a program to mark the 2568th Buddha Jayanti on Tuesday. 

Addressing the event, Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan Tapas Adhikari shared the philosophy of Buddhism including non-violence, affection, compassion, empathy, and other teachings of Gautam Buddha that are important for life, the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad said.      

Stating that Lumbini and Takshashila carry great importance in Buddhist philosophy, Ambassador Adhikari described the Nepal government’s efforts to develop Lumbini as the center of world peace. 

He also praised the Government of Pakistan for its efforts in the conservation and promotion of Gandhara civilization.   

Former Minister Dr Keshav Man Shakya, Buddhist scholars, and different other personalities were present on the occasion.

The Buddhist monks from Nepal and Pakistan as well as Pakistani nationals were present in the event.
