Govt unveiling annual budget today

Kathmandu: The annual budget for the upcoming financial year 2081/82 is being presented in the Parliament at 3:00 pm today.

According to the Secretariat, Finance Minister Barshman Pun will submit the annual estimation (budget) of revenue and expenditure for the coming fiscal year at the joint meeting of both houses of the Federal Parliament.

According to Article 119 of the Constitution of Nepal, the Minister of Finance must present the annual budget of revenue and expenditure in both houses of the Federal Parliament each fiscal year.

While presenting the annual budget, the amount of expenditure allocated to each ministry in the previous financial year and the details of whether the target has been achieved according to such expenditure should also be presented.

There is a constitutional provision that estimates of revenue and expenditure must be submitted to the Federal Parliament on the 15th of May every year.
