85th National Day of Pakistan: Founding fathers commemorated in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu marked 85th National Day of Pakistan by organizing a lag hoisting ceremony and paying homage to the freedom fighters. Messages from the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.

In his message, Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, recalled the sacrifices of founding fathers and the workers of the Pakistan Movement. “By embracing the principles of Unity, Faith, and Discipline, we can strengthen national security, boost the economy, advance agriculture, ensure energy security, and create opportunities for youth,” he said. “Pakistan seeks peaceful coexistence, regional stability, and strong global relationships, while defending its sovereignty.”

Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, in his message, said March 23 marks a defining moment in South Asia’s history, when, eighty-five years ago, the visionary leadership of Muslims in the subcontinent, under Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, united to create an independent homeland where Muslims could live with dignity and freedom. “This vision was realized in the Lahore Resolution of 1940, leading to the creation of Pakistan in 1947, built on the perseverance and sacrifices of our forefathers. Our armed forces and security personnel continue to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty with great valor, and we honor the sacrifices of our martyrs,” he said.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in his message extended warm greetings to fellow Pakistanis living abroad and commended their patriotism, dedication, and hard work. “On this day, let us also honor the struggle and exceptional sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their quest for the inalienable right to self-determination,” he said. “Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to providing political, moral and diplomatic support until the oppressed people of IIoJK attain their right to self-determination.”

Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi hoisted the flag and invited the Pakistani community to stay engaged locally and contribute to enhancing Nepal-Pakistan relations.
