Kathmandu: At least four people died, and 64 others were injured after a 100-foot tall billboard collapsed in Mumbai following a dust storm and heavy rain, news18.com reported

The illegal billboard fell on a petrol pump at the Cheddanagar Junction in the Ghatkopar area, it said.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has reached the spot and is trying to rescue the people trapped under the rubble.

After the hoarding collapse incident at Ghatkopar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced INRs 500,000 compensation for the kin of the deceased.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who canceled his Lok Sabha campaign and public meeting in the Mulund area, will shortly meet the affected people in the incident.

“Mumbai Police, Municipal Corporation BMC, Disaster Management Depts are coordinating and efforts are being made to evacuate the trapped people on war footing,” Fadnavis said in a post on X.
