National Unity Campaign protests Chinese businesses in Kathmandu’s Thamel

Kathmandu: The National Unity Campaign on Wednesday organized a protest in Thamel, Kathmandu’s tourist hub, against what they called dominance of Chinese businesses there. Participants marched with the banner that read ‘protect local trade, stop foreign manipulation,’ ‘Thamel belongs to us, trade belongs to us,’ ‘stop foreign interference’ among others.

The protest was led by Binaya Yadav, the chair of National Unity Campaign. Thamel has a significant number of Chinese nationals running various business outlets.
