Govt lifts ban on Tiktok

Kathmandu: The government has lifted ban on the use of and access to social site, Tiktok.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) directed the entire internet and mobile service providers to end the ban on citizens’ access to Tiktok.

With the NTA direction, users have access to Tiktok in their mobile phone sets.

The government on August 22 had decided to remove the ban on Tiktok that was enforced by the erstwhile government since November 13, 2023, citing its negative impact on social harmony and social atmosphere.
