Eight dead, five injured in jeep accident

Rautahat: Eight persons died and five others were injured in a jeep accident that took place in Rautahat district on Tuesday morning.

The jeep (Ba 16 Cha 3162) heading to Rautahat from Gadhimai of Bara when the speedy vehicle hit a roadside tree at Lamaha, along the east-west highway.

The passengers were returning home after conducting puja at the Gadhimai Temple, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Raj Kumar Rai.

DSP Rai informed that those killed in the accident were Ramkumari Devi Mahara, Ram Kumari Mahara, Sakuntala Devi Mahara, Urmila Mahara, Laruwati Devi Mahara, Mahagi Devi Mahara, Phulmati Devi Chamar and driver Sri Kumar Yadav. All of them were from Arnama Municipality-3 of Siraha district.

Similarly, those injured in the incident were Radha Ram, Aryan Ram, Dev Kumari Mahara, Ritik Mahara and Kanya Devi Mahara. They have been sent to Birgunj for treatment.
