Government declares public holiday to honor Qatar Emir’s state visit to Nepal

Kathmandu: The government has declared Tuesday a public holiday in honor of the state visit of Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, announced the decision following a Council of Ministers meeting at Singha Durbar.

Emir Al-Thani is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu on Tuesday for a two-day visit, invited by President Ramchandra Paudel.

During his stay, he will meet President Paudel and attend a state banquet in his honor. Bilateral talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal are set for Wednesday, followed by a signing ceremony for bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding, as per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This visit comes after a postponement last November due to escalating tensions in the Middle East following clashes between Israel and Hamas militants.
