68 firms face action for fake invoices

Chitwan: The Inland Revenue Office, Bharatpur took action against 68 firms last year for using fake invoices in trade.

Office Chief Niran Bhattarai said Rs 1.4 billion was collected in revenue from the fine imposed on the wrongdoers.

During the investigation, Rs 718 million was determined under the income tax and VAT while Rs 33 million under the tax. 

The office investigated the invoices made by the scraps entrepreneurs, traders of hardware and kitchen utensils, and clothes. The scraps traders were on top to make fake VAT bills.

Similarly, the office had collected Rs 75 million in fines by monitoring 227 firms.
