Saurya Airlines plane crash: 17 bodies handed over to relatives

Kathmandu: Bodies of 17 people who died in Saurya Airlines plane crash have been handed over to their relatives after postmortem.

Out of 18 people who died in the crash that occurred on July 24, bodies of 17 passengers were handed over to their relatives this evening, said Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki.

He added that a body of the foreign national would be managed following the due process. 

The relatives of the deceased received the bodies on Friday and Saturday after postmortem at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. 

Of the 19 passengers including crew members, 18 died when the plane of Saurya Airlines craft met with an accident at the premises of Tribhuvan International Airport on July 24.

However, Captain Manish Ratna Shakya was rescued from the incident site and rushed for treatment.
