Three youths, including YouTuber, arrested on charge of human trafficking

Kathmandu: Police have arrested three youths, including a 20-year-old YouTuber, on charges of human trafficking.

Those arrested have been identified as Kushal Kharel of Kavre district, Bir Bahadur Sintan, and Subilal Sintan.

“Kharel was arrested on Tuesday, while Bir Bahadur and Subilal were arrested on July 8,” said Superintendent Gautam Mishra, spokesperson for the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police.

The arrested individuals had been operating a local eatery and guesthouse in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Bhaktapur.

“They targeted financially disadvantaged girls, enticing them with promises of high-paying waiter jobs. However, once employed, the girls were made to sit with customers and generate high bills,” Mishra said.

“The accused housed the girls in the guesthouse and forced them to engage in physical relations with customers. The victims were repeatedly sexually exploited by the accused and were also forced into prostitution with clients, charging between Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 per encounter,” Mishra said.

Police also found temporary contraceptives, pregnancy test kits, and contraceptive pills in the guesthouse.

Police are further investigating into the case.
