Court sends Pratik Thapa, son of former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, to jail

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday sent Prati Thapa, son of former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, to jail in a fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

A single bench of Judge Sakuntala Karki passed the order to keep Thapa in judicial custody to further investigate the case.

The investigation disclosed that during his father’s term as the home minister, Prateek was involved in the crime, colluding with high-ranking officials at the ministry and other intermediaries.

Police on  June 28 arrested Thapa from Kathmandu.
